Decorations

  • We are flexible in what decorations you can add to The Woodyard, subject to them not causing any danger or damage to the building. We do not allow DIY hanging installations or lighting supplied by yourselves / family members - this must be supplied by a wedding supplier with Public Liability Insurance and insurance for “working at height”.

We have a number of suppliers we can recommend for numerous styling or decorative ideas, all specialising in different areas, so please do speak to us about any ideas you may have and we can point you in the right direction.

  • Yes. 110 chairs are provided for the ceremony however, often couples like to pair their tables and chairs for the wedding breakfast with their own table décor – such as glassware, linens and candles to create a more specific look and style. Therefore, a second set of chairs will be hired in via your caterer. Our recommended supplier for this is The Banqueting Hire Service.

The setup of both long trestle or round tables are possible within the Thatched Barn or Mulberry Room at The Woodyard.

Within the Mulberry Room there is an upholstered sofa for guests to seek a quieter space if they wish. Outside seating on the West Terrace to enjoy the afternoon summer sun is also provided.

  • You are more than welcome to use candles as table decorations in The Woodyard. Taper candles are permitted.

We’re also more than happy for you to use candles as part of your ceremony set up or at the foot of a table plan easel, however we do ask that the flame of the candle is at least 2-3 inches lower than the top of the glass cylinder, or is within an enclosed lantern.

  • Yes. Confetti is allowed however we do ask that this is biodegradable or real petals. Confetti canons are not permitted.

  • Unfortunately, dry ice machines, smoke machines, helium balloons and bouncy castles are not allowed to be used at The Woodyard.

  • Yes, however the Estate only allows a small selection of companies to do this. We require proof of the company’s public liability insurance beforehand along with proof of insurance for “working at height”.

Viewings & Booking

  • Yes! The Woodyard is set amongst 300 acres of private parkland and therefore a private viewing can be arranged. Worstead Estate is not open to the public.

We do recommend it’s best for couples to view wedding venues together so they can talk about what they’ve seen and discussed onsite at the viewing together afterwards.

Viewings will need to be prearranged. To arrange a private viewing, please email the events team on weddings@worsteadestate.com.

  • A booking can be made during or after a private viewing of the Estate.

To secure your wedding date, we will ask for a £1000 deposit for The Woodyard, £200 each for Estate Cottage, New Lane Cottage and Gatehouse North, and £600 for Holly House.

  • There is accommodation available onsite for a total of 31 guests for a two or three night stay for the weekend of your wedding.

Estate Cottage is a stone’s throw from The Woodyard and can be booked on a 2-night or 3-night stay, alongside The Woodyard for the weekend of a wedding.

Estate Cottage sleeps 6 guests with 3 ensuite bedrooms, spacious downstairs reception rooms and a fully equipped kitchen. In addition, the sofa bed in the library allows the cottage to sleep up to 8 guests. Estate Cottage is complete with a private hot tub, games room and BBQ to entertain your nearest and dearest guests on the weekend of your wedding.

The estate has three additional properties which together sleep a further 25 guests. These are available on a 2-night or 3-night basis. Each property is finished to a high-quality, luxury standard.

Gatehouse North (sleeps 6) is located at the former entrance to Worstead Park a short distance from The Woodyard, and comes with a private hot tub and games room. New Lane Cottage is our romantic thatched bolt-hole cottage, a short drive west of the main park entrance and comes with a private hot tub. Holly House (sleeps 15) comes with a private hot tub and greenhouse dining area set within its own walled garden.

Catering

  • We have a selection of hand-picked caterers for you to choose from. All of our caterers have been chosen upon merit, for their professionalism and for expertise.

Your caterer will be responsible for running your wedding day, keeping to the timing schedule they’ve set out with you, along with pouring and serving all food and drinks throughout the day (minus the evening bar). They can / will advise you on the hire of glassware, cutlery, crockery and linens.

It is essential that you choose one of the caterers from our Approved Caterers list.

  • The kitchen is equipped with a freezer, a single fridge for food, a double fridge for welcome drinks, and table / toasting wines, 1 gas oven, 1 electric oven, a hot cupboard and kitchen benches extending to 26ft.

If a caterer feels they need additional equipment to perform specific menus for a client, they may hire in additional equipment such as electric fryers, convention ovens or heat display units.

  • No. All glasses, cutlery crockery and linens for the drinks reception and wedding breakfast are hired in separately via your caterer.

Worstead Estate provides glasses for the evening bar.

  • Yes. There is plenty of space outside The Woodyard for a street-style food van to set up and serve in the evening.

Bar & Entertainment

  • Yes. Live music can play until 11pm and recorded music (such as a DJ) can play until 11:30pm.

We ask that all band and DJ equipment is PAT tested. We have an integrated audio system throughout The Woodyard which bands and DJs plug into. This is a requirement of our license.

Our music system also provides amplification for speeches and background music during the ceremony and afternoon if needed.

Acoustic music outside during your reception drinks on the West Terrace is permitted though amplified music is not.

  • We offer a fully stocked bar and staff levels appropriate to the size of your party. We usually open the bar after your wedding breakfast, unless you would prefer any other arrangements. The bar closes at 11:30pm.

If you would like the bar to be open during the wedding breakfast, this is certainly possible and will need to be prearranged beforehand to ensure it is staffed appropriately. The bar will operate on a table service basis for this time period to maximise guest experience and allow a smooth food service with all guests remaining seated.

We have a small selection of cocktails available for you to shortlist your two “favourites” for the evening of your wedding. Please contact our Event Management team Hardesty Event Design to request our bar list and cocktail menu.

  • Yes, and we are corkage free. You can provide your own wines for the table, toasting drinks and reception drinks. You can also provide your own reception drinks for the time between your ceremony and taking your seats for the wedding breakfast.

Alternatively, drinks can be pre-ordered off the Worstead Bar and will be available ahead of time for your caterers to prepare and serve.

  • These are strictly prohibited. The Woodyard has a thatched roof and is part of a larger farming estate.

Access, Parking & Pets

  • Yes. Throughout The Woodyard there are wheelchair lifts both inside and outside to ensure all guests can move around the space freely.

We also operate a hearing loop, and there is a disabled bathroom in the venue.

  • Yes, we have car park ready for guest car parking all year round with space adjacent to The Mulberry Room for disabled parking.

  • If you would like your dog to be involved in the ceremony, we’re more than happy for this to happen – although we do ask for the dog(s) to be kept on a lead. Two well-behaved dogs sleeping on site for the weekend of your wedding is also possible; we just ask for dogs to be kept downstairs and off the furniture in the accommodation.

We would ask that someone is assigned to look after the dog(s) throughout the weekend (and especially on the wedding day itself) and clear up after them.
